Assess the Problem
We confirm what is driving the symptoms before choosing treatment, using clinical testing and relevant reports where needed.

DakshinRehab fits, calibrates and rehabilitates myoelectric, cosmetic and body-powered hand prostheses for below-elbow and above-elbow amputees. Prosthetic selection is led by Mohanagandhi, CPO — Clinical Rehabilitation Specialist & Founder, with EMG and daily-living training from our physiotherapy team.
Personalised, technology-driven rehabilitation in Moosapet, Hyderabad.
We begin with a focused clinical assessment so treatment is matched to the structure, movement pattern and stage of recovery that matters most.
Your programme is progressed against measurable function, not a generic timetable, so each visit has a clear reason and next step.
We confirm what is driving the symptoms before choosing treatment, using clinical testing and relevant reports where needed.
Hands-on care, technology and exercise are selected only when they fit the diagnosis and current irritability of the tissues.
Strength, mobility, gait, balance or sport-specific work is progressed as control and confidence return.
Myoelectric hands that open, close and switch grips from your own muscle signals, or a natural silicone hand for shape and confidence. No shoulder harness needed.

Our senior Bionic Prosthetist maps your residual limb and muscle control, while our physiotherapists train EMG control, grip switching, donning and daily-living tasks.

From eating, typing and using a phone to getting back on the cricket field, the goal is confident everyday use, not just wearing an artificial hand.

How myoelectric hands actually work, who they suit, what drives their cost, and how DakshinRehab Moosapet matches the right prosthesis to your limb, lifestyle and budget.

A myoelectric hand prosthesis uses small sensors inside the socket to detect muscle signals from the residual limb and convert them into hand or finger movement.

A bionic or myoelectric prosthetic hand may suit below-elbow, wrist disarticulation and some partial-hand users, but suitability must be tested clinically.

The cost of a bionic hand prosthesis reflects the technology, customization, imported components, service support and clinical training required to make it useful.

We do not prescribe the most expensive hand by default. We match the prosthesis to your limb, muscle signals, lifestyle, posture, function and support needs.
Use this comparison as a planning guide. The right choice depends on residual-limb length, EMG control, daily tasks, cosmetic goals and budget.
| Decision point | Myoelectric (Bionic) | Cosmetic Silicone | Mechanical (Body-Powered) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Best for | Professionals, students and active daily life | Social confidence and natural appearance | Heavy, repetitive manual work |
| Below-elbow fit | Motorised fingers, proportional grip control and no harness | Natural shape and skin tone with a very light passive hand | Cable-operated hand or hook with high durability |
| Above-elbow fit | Needs elbow plus hand control, so training and component choice are more complex | Full-arm silicone restoration with passive elbow positioning | Cable system with shoulder harness and reliable work grip |
| Function | Active grasp, pinch, hold and type | Passive support and light object holding | Strong reliable grip |
| Indicative cost | ₹1.5 lakh (basic) to ₹18 lakh (advanced bionic) | ₹10,000 – 50,000 | ₹1.5 – 4.5 lakh (above-elbow) |
| Maintenance | Battery, charger and glove care | Very low; silicone cleaning and care | Low; periodic cable changes |
Costs are indicative planning ranges only. Your exact estimate is confirmed at consultation after socket design, limb level and components are finalised.
DakshinRehab is brand-neutral: we prescribe on function, residual-limb length, budget and lifestyle, not brand commission.

A structured assessment-to-training pathway keeps prosthetic fitting, socket comfort and real-world use in the same clinical team.

We assess residual-limb length, skin condition, muscle strength, phantom pain, work needs, driving, typing, social goals and preferred appearance.

A prosthetic hand becomes useful through practice. Our physiotherapy team, led by Dr. Swapnagandhi, trains EMG control, socket comfort and daily tasks.

You understand how the socket sits and how your muscles control the hand.

You begin using the hand without over-contracting or watching every movement.

You practise the exact everyday tasks that matter at home, work or college.

Most users aim for 6+ hours comfortable wear and independent basic daily tasks.
DakshinRehab is a private prosthetics and rehabilitation clinic, so prosthetic limbs are paid for and we do not provide free devices or direct funding ourselves. What we do is explain every cost upfront and guide you to the funding routes you may qualify for, then help you prepare the paperwork.
We help prepare supporting documents for schemes you may be eligible for — the ADIP scheme (ALIMCO), CGHS/ECHS, private insurance, charitable trusts or EMI financing. Eligibility and final approval rest with each scheme, not with the clinic.
Socket adjustments and training booster sessions during the first 12 months are included unless a new component or replacement part is required.
We offer expectation-setting, family education and, where available, peer connection with past prosthetic users who have consented to speak.
